Breaking Barriers: TYP Alumna Jandell-Jamela Nicholas on Her Path to a PhD at U of T

Jandell-Jamela Nicholas, a Ph.D. candidate in Geography and Planning at the University of Toronto, studies how Black and Indigenous women survivors of domestic violence can shape emergency shelters as spaces of healing and empowerment. A TYP alumna and recipient of the Joseph-Armand Bombardier Doctoral Scholarship, she combines storytelling and critical human geography to advance equity and social justice.
